A few weeks ago CBS announced a series order to a new NCIS spinoff, this time named NCIS Hawaii.
The series will have the first actual female lead, played by Vanessa Lachey as Jane Tennant; and she's the first because on NCIS Los Angeles, Hetty Lange is 'Operations chief' and not 'special agent in charge' as Lara Macy (played by Louise Lombard) was on the backdoor pilot back in 2009.
No news yet on when it will start, as it's still in development.
